Greenwich, London and where to go to stand on GMT
Greenwich is a town on the south bank of the Thames. You can get to it by DLR (Docklands light rail) or Ferry down the Thames. I think the nicest way to see it is by ferry but this costs a little more. One option by DLR is to get the Tube to Tower Hill and walk to the DLR station from there. There are other ways but this is how I did it.
Once in Greenwich there are few things to see. Sadly the Cutty Sark got a bit burnt a few years ago so I don't know what shape that is in now. If you go on the weekends there is the Greenwich markets which are nice and you can wander around Greenwich and just check it all out.
Greenwich is famous for being a naval port of call and you can see the Naval Museum which I really liked. The Greenwich university buildings are amazing. You have to see them. The buildings were originally constructed to serve as the Greenwich Hospital, designed by Christopher Wren, and built between 1696 and 1712.
One of the most famous things about Greenwich is GMT. Greenwich Mean Time. The beginning of time. You can walk through Greenwich Park(which is beautiful) to the Royal Observatory and stand on the mean line which is pretty cool really. They have a bit of a museum in the Observatory and it is worth checking out.
